Common spare parts we supply and fit
Spare parts support is there for the parts that wear, heat up, stretch, or fail with daily use. On wide-format cold and hot roll laminators, that usually means rollers, shafts, bearings, drive belts, chains, sensors, switches, heater elements, fuses, rollers for pressure sets, and control components. We also help with cover panels, feet, guards, and basic fasteners when a machine has taken a knock or had years of hard work in a print room.
For most machines we first confirm the model, operating width, voltage, and roller setup before we suggest parts. That matters because a 650 mm unit and a 1600 mm unit may look similar from the front, but the internal parts can differ a lot. If the machine runs day in and day out on boards, vinyl, canvas, or printed sheets, the right part fit is what keeps downtime short and avoids repeat faults.
We support common wear items for wide-format laminators used in Johannesburg, Pretoria, the East Rand, Sandton, Midrand, Randburg, and further afield. Coastal humidity and dusty workshop conditions both shorten service life, so we stock and source parts with normal South African operating conditions in mind.
What the support process looks like
The process is simple and practical. Send us the machine details, the fault description, and if possible a photo of the part or the rating plate. If you have a serial number, that helps speed things up. We then check the likely part match, advise whether the item is in stock or needs to be ordered, and confirm if it is a fitment issue or a deeper mechanical fault.
- Identify the machine model and width
- Confirm the failed part or worn component
- Check stock, compatibility, and lead time
- Quote supply only or supply plus fitment
- Arrange collection, courier, or on-site support
Where a breakdown is urgent, we can often split the job into the immediate part that must be replaced and the follow-up items that can wait. That helps when production is stopped and you need the machine back before the next run, not next week.
Repair parts for hot and cold roll laminators
Different machines fail in different ways. Cold roll units often need pressure rollers, drive parts, bearings, alignment work, or feed adjustments. Hot roll machines add heating components, temperature probes, thermostats, insulation parts, and control issues linked to load shedding or power interruptions. If the machine has been cycling on and off a lot, electrical wear is common.
Typical parts support can include:
- Silicone or pressure rollers
- Bearings and shaft supports
- Drive belts, gears, and chains
- Motor components and switches
- Heating elements and temperature controls
- Fuses, relays, contactors, and wiring parts
- Safety covers, guards, and operating controls
If a machine has scratches on the roller surface or uneven pressure across the width, replacing one small component may not be enough. We check the full assembly so the new part does not get damaged by another worn item nearby. It is worth doing once, properly.
Why timing matters for maintenance parts
Laminators usually give warning signs before a complete failure. You may hear a rubbing sound, see uneven nip pressure, get slow feed, or notice temperature drift on hot machines. When those signs appear, a planned part change is usually cheaper than waiting for a full breakdown. In a busy print shop, a half day of stoppage can cost more than the part itself.
For regular use, we recommend checking the main wear items every 6 to 12 months. Heavy production sites may need shorter intervals, especially where the machine runs for long shifts or where dust and humidity are part of the environment. If the machine is switched off during outages and then restarted often, have the electrical side checked at the same time because power fluctuations can stress the controls.
Maintenance intervals also depend on what you laminate. Heavy board, adhesive films, and thicker media put more pressure on the rollers and drive system than lighter work. That is normal, but it means the service parts need attention sooner.
Pricing approach for parts and fitment
We price spare parts support based on the actual component needed, the machine type, and whether the job is supply only or includes installation and testing. There is no one flat rate because a simple switch and a full roller set are very different jobs. We aim to keep pricing clear, with labour and transport shown separately where relevant so you can budget properly.
Where possible, we suggest repair in stages if the machine is still usable. That gives you a choice between immediate repair and planned replacement. We will also tell you honestly when a part is not worth replacing on its own and a fuller service makes more sense. Nobody wants to buy parts twice, ja, especially when the machine is already out of action.
- Supply only for parts you want to fit yourself
- Supply plus workshop fitment
- Supply plus on-site installation in Gauteng and nationwide
- Diagnostic callout where the fault is not yet confirmed
